As solar power generation and energy storage systems continue to expand, power conversion efficiency, bidirectional energy management, and operational stability have become key considerations in energy storage equipment design. As a critical link between battery systems and the power grid, the Power Conversion System (PCS) plays a central role in overall equipment performance, which depends on the coordinated design of power topologies, control systems, and peripheral components.
At electronica 2026 in Munich, Germany, Kamax, a subsidiary of the Flytronics Group, will showcase its PCS solution for energy storage applications. Integrating domestic semiconductor and component resources across power semiconductors, main control chips, analog signal chains, power management, and communication modules, the solution covers key functions in energy conversion, system control, and data communication, providing flexible component selection and design support for energy storage equipment development.
Join us at Booth C6.359, November 10–13, 2026, to explore our solutions and component applications.
一、An Integrated Energy Conversion Chain for Flexible Power Requirements
PCS serves as a key power conversion unit connecting energy storage batteries to the grid, enabling electrical energy conversion, bidirectional charging and discharging, and grid-connected operation. To address the requirements for conversion efficiency, operational stability, and grid performance, Kamax has developed a solution that integrates power topology, control strategies, and peripheral circuitry, covering both energy conversion and system control.

1、PV Input and MPPT Boost Conversion: Enhancing Energy Harvesting
The PV input stage incorporates surge protection to mitigate the impact of transient overvoltages, including lightning-induced surges, on downstream power circuits. Multiple BOOST converters form the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) stage, enabling independent operating-point tracking for different PV strings. This configuration accommodates variations in irradiance and panel orientation, helping improve solar energy utilization.
For power switching, the solution adopts Silan Micro SiC MOSFETs, including the SCDP120R040NP4B and SCDP120R025NB2P4N. With low switching losses and high-frequency operating capabilities, silicon carbide devices provide a foundation for improving power conversion efficiency and optimizing circuit design.
2、Bidirectional DC-DC Conversion and Grid-Tied Inversion: Balancing Energy Management and Power Quality
Between the PV system and the battery, a bidirectional Buck/Boost DC-DC converter enables two-way energy transfer, supporting both the storage of solar energy and the delivery of power from the battery.
For grid-tied inversion, the solution offers two power conversion options: two-level and three-level PIM power modules, allowing customers to select a suitable configuration based on power rating and performance requirements.
· Two-level solution: Uses the Silan Micro SGM800HF12A3TFD IGBT module, supporting energy storage converter designs at corresponding power levels while addressing power conversion and system integration requirements.
· Three-level solution: Uses Silan Micro IGBT PIM modules, including the SGM400TL10A7BTFD and SGM600TL10D5TFD. The optimized power conversion topology helps reduce output harmonics and improve electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance, making it suitable for energy storage equipment with stringent grid power quality and reliability requirements.
These two power conversion options provide greater flexibility for different power ratings, performance targets, and product positioning.
二、Advanced Control and Signal Chains for Stable System Operation
1、Main Controller and Isolated Gate Drivers: Enabling Precise Power Management
The control system is central to stable PCS operation and effective energy management. The solution uses the Nations Technologies N32H785IIB7 high-performance microcontroller (MCU) as its main controller, handling MPPT algorithm execution, bidirectional charge and discharge control, grid-connection logic, and protection-related calculations.
Isolated gate driver units are also incorporated to drive SiC MOSFETs and IGBTs while providing electrical isolation between the control and power stages. This helps reduce the impact of power-switching interference on the control system and supports stable overall equipment operation.
2、Analog Signal Acquisition and Fault Detection: Improving System Monitoring
Accurate measurement of key parameters, including voltage and current, is essential for power regulation and fault protection.
The solution uses the SG Micro SGM8270 operational amplifier to build the analog signal acquisition chain, monitoring PV voltage and current, battery voltage, and grid voltage and current. The SGM431 voltage reference and SGM8770 comparator support reference stability and abnormal-condition detection.
In addition, the SGM48751X analog switch supports signal switching and channel management, working alongside the digital control unit to process signals. By coordinating analog and digital components, the solution incorporates domestic components across key control and signal-chain functions, expanding local component sourcing options and reducing dependence on individual supply channels.
三、Auxiliary Power and Communication for System Integration
1、Multi-Rail Auxiliary Power: Meeting the Needs of Different Functional Modules
PCS incorporates multiple functional units, including the main controller, gate drivers, analog signal acquisition circuits, and communication modules, each with specific power supply requirements.
The solution uses SG Micro DC-DC converters and LDOs, including the SGM61220, SGM61450, and SGM2212, together with Topsource Electronics AC-DC power solutions to establish a multi-rail auxiliary power system.
Depending on module requirements, the system can provide power rails such as +12 V, +5 V/-5 V, and +3.3 V to support gate drivers, ICs, analog circuits, and communication modules.
The solution also integrates peripheral components, including an RTC from Ruixing Micro, a crystal oscillator from TKD, and an XMC NOR Flash memory chip. These components support real-time clock functions, clock signal generation, and program and parameter storage, providing a foundation for operational logging, parameter management, and system maintenance.
2、Wired and Wireless Communication: Expanding Connectivity
To support local commissioning, remote monitoring, and device connectivity, the solution integrates wired interfaces including CAN, RS485, USB, and Ethernet, alongside BLE and Wi-Fi wireless modules from Quectel.
This range of communication options supports device commissioning, data transmission, and backend monitoring. It also provides a foundation for visualizing operational data such as PV energy generation, battery state of charge (SOC), and grid-connected power, while allowing flexibility to accommodate the communication requirements of energy storage equipment targeting international markets.
四、From Core Components to System Solutions: Expanding Domestic Component Adoption
From PV input and power conversion to control, signal acquisition, auxiliary power, and communication, Kamax's PCS solution provides a systematic configuration of the key functional modules within a power conversion system. By integrating components from multiple domestic semiconductor brands, it helps customers coordinate component selection, functional compatibility, and supply chain planning from the early stages of design.
